At Care-Pets,  your pets are our pets.

Care-Pets Animal Hospital and Wellness Center was founded by Dr. Joan Evinger in 1987. After working several years as an Associate Veterinarian, Dr. Evinger and her husband Dan, along with many family and friends, personally converted a private home into the original Care-Pets Animal Hospital.

Initially, Dr. Evinger worked alone as a Veterinarian, Technician, Assistant, Receptionist, AND Kennel Attendant. Having worked in each of these positions at one time or another, since she started in veterinary medicine at the age of 14, she was intimately familiar with and especially skilled at them all. Eventually, she started hiring local youth from among the children of her clients and trained them in these roles. Many of them continue in veterinary careers to this day. This tradition is still carried on at Care-Pets and more than half of the staff started as veterinary assistants or kennel attendants.

It was not long before Care-Pets began to grow, and the need for more space became apparent. In October 2001, Care-Pets Animal Hospital moved down the road to its current location at 8800 Old State Road 60. This new facility provided much-needed additional space. The spacious lobby and four exam rooms were designed with the comfort of our patients, clients, and staff in mind. The new facility also provided the necessary space to accommodate all of our specialized diagnostic procedures including a surgery suite, radiology, and lab to name a few.
